Numeric simulation for structure’s damage identification of space truss

JI Weihong, SONG Yupu, LIANG Bing

Frontiers of Mechanical Engineering 2007, Volume 2, Issue 4,   Pages 423-428 doi: 10.1007/s11465-007-0072-0

Abstract: Damage detection by using the changes of dynamic parameters is a conventional damage diagnosis method, however, some indices are not sensitive enough to the most structural damages. In this study, the analytical data of displacement modes of truss structure are obtained by using the finite element analysis sof—ANSYS. The mode analysis technique for the axial strain change of any stick is used to detect the steel trusses with different damages. The analytical results show that the damage location and degree of the truss stick can be effectively diagnosed by means of the axial strain change.

Simulation of long-term nutrient removal in a full-scale closed-loop bioreactor for sewage treatment: an example

Zheng LI,Rong QI,Wei AN,Takashi MINO,Tadashi SHOJI,Willy VERSTRAETE,Jian GU,Shengtao LI,Shiwei XU,Min YANG

Frontiers of Environmental Science & Engineering 2015, Volume 9, Issue 3,   Pages 534-544 doi: 10.1007/s11783-014-0660-2

Abstract: In this study, the performance of nitrogen and phosphorus removal in a full-scale closed-loop bioreactor (oxidation ditch) system was simulated using the ASM2d model. Routine data describing the process for two years were compiled for calibration and validation. To overcome the identifiability problem, the classic Bayesian inference approach was utilized for parameter estimation. The calibrated model could describe the long-term trend of nutrient removal and short-term variations of the process performance, showing that the Bayesian method was a reliable and useful tool for the parameter estimation of the activated sludge models. The anoxic phosphate uptake by polyphosphate accumulating organisms (PAO) contributed 71.2% of the total Poly-P storage, which reveals the dominance of denitrifying phosphorus removal process under the oxygen limiting conditions. It was found that 58.7% of the anoxic Poly-P storage and denitrification by PAO in the reactor was achieved in the aerated compartment, implying that the PAO’s anoxic activity was significantly stimulated by the low dissolved oxygen (DO) level in this compartment due to the oxygen gradient caused by brush aerator.

Wang Gang

Strategic Study of CAE 2015, Volume 17, Issue 3,   Pages 45-49

Abstract:

The paper proposes to apply one new technology base on the research results of “973” project of non-grid-connected wind power to gain freshwater in some areas (such as Gansu Province) which is shortage of freshwater resources, but rich in Brackish water. Then, efficiency advantages of the new technology are analyzed from the perspective of energy consumption and energy conservation. Some suggestions about this application of large-scale technology were put forward.

Study on the Mechanism and Cause Mode of the Karst Collapse——Taking Tai’an-Laiwu for Example

Gao Zongjun

Strategic Study of CAE 2008, Volume 10, Issue 4,   Pages 38-43

Abstract:

The fearful karst collapses have been produced in succession since 1970s by the exploitation of karst water in the area of Tai'an-Laiwu, Shandong province. The limestone buried by Quaternary System grows into karst caves, and karst collapse brings enormous harm to the local society and economy development. The spatio-temporal distributing characteristics of karst collapse are summed up in detail. The geological condition, artificial function and forming mechanism of karst collapse are discussed. The cause mode of the karst collapse aiming at the existing questions is discussed and the idea for karst collapse studying in the future is given at last.

Adversarial Attacks and Defenses in Deep Learning Feature Article

Kui Ren, Tianhang Zheng, Zhan Qin, Xue Liu

Engineering 2020, Volume 6, Issue 3,   Pages 346-360 doi: 10.1016/j.eng.2019.12.012

Abstract:

With the rapid developments of artificial intelligence (AI) and deep learning (DL) techniques, it is critical
to ensure the security and robustness of the deployed algorithms. Recently, the security vulnerability of
DL algorithms to adversarial samples has been widely recognized. The fabricated samples can lead to various
misbehaviors of the DL models while being perceived as benign by humans. Successful implementations
of adversarial attacks in real physical-world scenarios further demonstrate their practicality.
Hence, adversarial attack and defense techniques have attracted increasing attention from both machine
learning and security communities and have become a hot research topic in recent years. In this paper,
we first introduce the theoretical foundations, algorithms, and applications of adversarial attack techniques.
We then describe a few research efforts on the defense techniques, which cover the broad frontier
in the field. Several open problems and challenges are subsequently discussed, which we hope will provoke
further research efforts in this critical area.

Optimization model analysis of centralized groundwater source heat pump system in heating season

Shilei LU,Yunfang QI,Zhe CAI,Yiran LI

Frontiers in Energy 2015, Volume 9, Issue 3,   Pages 343-361 doi: 10.1007/s11708-015-0372-8

Abstract: The ground-water heat-pump system (GWHP) provides a high efficient way for heating and cooling while consuming a little electrical energy. Due to the lack of scientific guidance for operating control strategy, the coefficient of performance (COP) of the system and units are still very low. In this paper, the running strategy of GWHP was studied. First, the groundwater thermal transfer calculation under slow heat transfixion and transient heat transfixion was established by calculating the heat transfer simulation software Flow Heat and using correction factor. Next, heating parameters were calculated based on the building heat load and the terminal equipment characteristic equation. Then, the energy consumption calculation model for units and pumps were established, based on which the optimization method and constraints were established. Finally, a field test on a GWHP system in Beijing was conducted and the model was applied. The new system operation optimization idea for taking every part of the GWHP into account that put forward in this paper has an important guiding significance to the actual operation of underground water source heat pump.

Construction Model of Ecological Civilization in Counties—Taking Wuyuan County in Jiangxi Province as an Example

Lin Minsong, Liu Lili, Zeng Xianlai, Li Jinhui

Strategic Study of CAE 2019, Volume 21, Issue 5,   Pages 87-92 doi: 10.15302/J-SSCAE-2019.05.010

Abstract:

Ecological protection is critical for the harmonious development of humanity and nature, and ecological civilization construction is fundamental for the sustainable development of China. Wuyuan County in Jiangxi Province, a typical county in central China, has its own characteristics and advantages in ecological civilization construction. This study constructs a “five-dimensional analysis method” for analyzing the ecological civilization construction in counties. The five dimensions include economic construction, political construction, cultural and social construction, ecological service values, and the index system for ecological civilization construction. This method is adopted to summarize the achievements in ecological civilization construction in Wuyuan as well as its successful mode. Corresponding development directions and related policy suggestions are also proposed to promote ecological civilization development. Wuyuan's experience in ecological civilization construction can provide guidance for counties in the whole country.
